The Last Ottoman
|
Synopsis:
November 13th 1918, Istanbul is under military occupation. A young lieutenant, Yandim
Ali or Knockout Ali, is wandering in the streets of the city. He has returned from
the front and wants to find his Beloved whom he left behind before going to Vienna.
But he finds her a married woman. He tries to meet her but always finds himself
entangled in trouble: fights, gambling and women. His life will change for ever
the day his path crosses that of Mustafa Kemal’s, the young Turkish commander.

DIRECTOR’S CV:
Mustafa Sevki Dogan was born in 1964 in Soke, Turkey. He started his filmmaking
career as assistant to director Osman Sinav. He attended the master’s courses at
the Mimar Sinan University. He has also worked with Sinav on numerous projects as
editor, assistant director and producer. Among his works: Tales from Mesnevi – 1991,
Yasemince – 1998, Hayat Baglari – 2003 and Ruyalarda Bulusuruz – 2006. The Last
Ottoman – Knockout Ali is his first feature film as director.
