THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH
|
Synopsis:
Thomas Jerome Newton is a humanoid alien who comes to Earth seeking a way to ferry
his people from his distant planet to ours. His home planet Anthea is experiencing
a terrible drought. Newton uses the advanced technology of his planet to patent
many inventions and becomes incredibly wealthy. He meets Mary-Lou a lonely and simple
working girl and soon a love affair begins between the two. One day, Newton’s secret
identity is discovered by one of his employees, Nathan Bryce, and he is arrested
by the government which subjects him to endless tests.

DIRECTOR’S CV:
Nicolas Roeg was born in 1928 in London, England. He is an internationally known
cinematographer and director. He contributed to the visual design of Lean’s Lawrence
of Arabia and Corman’s The Masque of the Red Death. His exceptional visual technique
as well as his foreboding sense of atmosphere have greatly influenced later filmmakers
such as Ridley Scott and François Ozon. Among his works: Performance - 1970, Walkabout
– 1971, Don’t Look Now – 1973, Puffball – 2006 and Adina – 2007.
