SYNOPSIS:
On August 23rd, 1944, in a small city of Transylvania, 16 year old Felix Goldshmidt
awaits his classmates for their traditional Exitus Party (school graduation). However,
this very day, the kingdom of Romania takes leave of its ally of many years – Nazi
Germany – ending the 800 year old, highly successful story of ethnic German immigration
at the feet of the Carpathian Mountains. The youngsters are blind to the rise of
Fascism.

DIRECTOR’S CV:
Radu Gabrea was born in 1937 in Romania. He is a graduate of the Romanian Film School.
His film Beyond the Sands (1973) was banned in Romania but found its way to the
Directors’ Fortnight at the 1974 Cannes Film Festival. It was well received by the
FIPRESCI critics. Among his works: Too Small for such a Big War – 1969, The Secret
of the Ice Cave – 1989 and Rosenemil - 1993
