Synopsis:
Otilia and Gabita are two university friends who share a room in a hall of residence
in Bucharest. These are the last years of the Ceausescu regime, the final days of
Communism in Romania. Gabita is pregnant. The two girls arrange to meet a certain
Mr. Bebe in a cheap hotel. He will perform Gabita’s illegal abortion. But Mr. Bebe
refuses their money and he demands a different manner of payment.

Cristian Munqiu Director of "4 months,3weeks and 2 days"
Christian Mungiu was born in 1968 in Iasi, Romania. He studied Film directing at
the Cinema University of Bucharest. His first feature film, Occident, won critical
acclaim as well as prizes in numerous film festivals. It was featured in the Directors’
Fortnight at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival. His second feature film, 4 Months, 3
Weeks and 2 Days won the most coveted Palme d’Or at Cannes, marking the first time
this prize was awarded to a Romanian filmmaker.
