Born and raised in the United States to an Afghan family, Edreace Purmul's parents immigrated to the United States as refugees, due to the Soviet invasion of their homeland in the late 1970s. Purmul graduated with a degree in Business and Film from San Diego State University in 2006. Residing in southern California, Purmul's first accomplishment in 2008, "Mozlym", received immediate recognition and acclaim for its socially conscious and emotional appeal. "Mozlym" is his first feature-length narrative film, and is said to be followed up by more intricate films dedicated to dealing with social and idealistic barriers in society.

ولد "إدريس بورمول" ونشأ في الولايات المتحدة وهو من أصل أفغاني، وكان والداه قد هاجرا الى الولايات المتحدة كلاجئين، وذلك بسبب الغزو السوفيتي لبلادهم في أواخر السبعينات. وقد حصل "بورمول" على شهادة في مجال الأعمال التجارية والسينما من جامعة سان دييغو عام ٢۰۰٦. وهو مقيم في جنوب كاليفورنيا ، وإنجازه الأول فيلم "مسلم" عام ٢۰۰۸، الذي تلقى اشادة وتقدير فوري نظرا لوعيه بالبعد الإجتماعي ووللنداء العاطفي به. "مسلم" هو فيلمه الروائي الأول، ويقال أنه سيتبعه بفيلم أكثر تعقيدا يتناول قضية الحواجز الاجتماعية والأخلاقية في المجتمع.
