Mahamat-Saleh Haroun was born in 1961 in Abéché, Chad. He has directed several documentaries,
short and feature films. Bye Bye Africa was part of the 1999 Venice Film Festival
official selection and won the award for Best First Film. Abouna (Our Father) participated
in the Directors’ Fortnight at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival. His last feature film
Daratt, Dry Season won the Jury’s Special Prize at the 2006 Venice Film Festival.
He lately directed Sexe, Gombo et Beurre sale (Sex, Gumbo and Salted Butter) for
Arte TV.
