  • Acting Career

    Since 1992, Abou-Ouf acted in 44 movies, 60 TV series and six plays; the last of which has been showing with great success for the past eight years. He won several awards for his work more so as an actor. He only started full time acting in 1992. His debut was in the film 'Ice Cream in Gleem,' with one of the most distinguished Egyptian directors, Khairy Besahara. Abou-Ouf had several acting experiences during the period when he was the head of the 4M music band.
  • Hosting TV Programs

    He is the co-host of the on air talk show 'Cairo Today' (AlQahira Al Yom). This show was awarded in the past few years for being the most viewed show in the Arab world. He hosted several other popular TV shows.
  • Jazz/Western Music Bands

    Abou-Ouf started as a professional musician when he was merely a high school student during the 60’s and the early 70’s. He formed several bands with some of today’s most renowned Egyptian musicians such as Omar Khayrat, Yehia Khalil, Omar Khorshed and Sobhy Bedeir.
  • The 4M Group

    In 1979 Abou-Ouf formed a band along with his four sisters the “4M”. It quickly became one of the most successful Arabic bands in the history of the Middle East and this continued for 12 years. Abou-Ouf’s music through this band was a pioneer in changing the Arabic song to take its form till our present time.

Book about Music:
He is currently researching and writing a book about the effect of music on patients with incurable and terminal disease.

Background:
Abou-Ouf was born to an artistic family. His father was an officer in the Egyptian Army and at the same time studied music theory in the University of King Farouk I. He then became a reputed scholar of Oriental Music. During his adolescence and as a young man Abou-Ouf was able to counterpart between his studies and work as a medical doctor and his work as a musician. He practiced medicine for five years as a gynaecologist before he abandoned practicing medicine and gave himself completely to music.
